Kansas Football Recruiting Profile: Peyton Bender signs with Jayhawks

JUCO QB transfer looks to take the starting spot away from Carter Stanley.

NCAA Football: Washington State at Washington Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports

Bender comes to KU from JUCO after starting his college career with Mike Leach and Washington State. Coming out of high school he was the 25th-ranked QB in the nation in the 2014 class. He started one game for Wazzu after his redshirt freshman year and saw action in several other games. Bender was ruled academically ineligible at Wazzu prior to the 2016 season which necessitated his move to JUCO.

Bender only has two years of eligibility remaining and is coming to KU with designs on wresting the starting job away from Carter Stanley. An experienced Air Raid quarterback, look for Bender to be KU’s QB1 sooner rather than later.

Bender signed with KU during the December signing period and is already on campus and expected to take part in spring ball.
