The Kansas Jayhawks head into the Christmas break with an away game against the Stanford Cardinal in Sacramento. Can KU avoid an upset as they prepare to take a break and get more reinforcements?
dnoll5: KU will get to chill with #BIFM before and after the game in Sacramento against Stanford, so my guess is that KU will come away with a win. Would you want to chill with Frank after you just lost your third game in five attempts? I wouldn’t. And while many on this site have a soft spot for Jarod Haase, I don’t. He is my least favorite Jayhawk of all time and I hope that Kansas beats Stanford by 50. Kansas 93, Stanford 43.
David: Kansas is playing a tall, long Pac-12 team? In a neutral site game, in a half empty NBA venue, where the crowd will likely be fairly quiet? And what's that? It's right before the Christmas break, when players are more likely to be distracted?
I just don't see how this could possibly go wrong.
In all seriousness, while Stanford in Sacramento won't be a cakewalk, I don't think Kansas will lose. This Cardinal team is fairly young and has lost to Eastern Washington, Long Beach State and Portland State. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at all nervous about an L, but I don't think it will happen.
Kansas 77, Stanford 68
Fizzle406: David is wrong. Kansas is absolutely losing this game. Kansas struggles against tall teams and Pac 12 teams. So a tall Pac 12 team is going to clearly win here. Stanford 87, Kansas 80
Mike.Plank: Is it possible for me to agree with David and Fizzle? I don’t think KU is going to look good in this game. Let’s face it, they just are not deep - or good - enough. The last time KU went on the road, the Jayhawks barely beat an average Nebraska team, a team that has been creamed by the likes of St John’s and UCF this year. Additionally, doesn’t KU have a history of struggling in the game prior to Christmas break, especially if it’s not in Allen Fieldhouse? If I was a betting man, I’d take Stanford +15. Kansas 73, Stanford 72.
Andy Mitts: Fizzle and Mike are way too pessimistic here. While I'd feel better if we had eIther Billy Preston or Silvio De Sousa, I think Sam Cunliffe gives enough depth to overcome the lack of a front court. Mitch Lightfoot has an ok night, but Vick goes crazy to lead all scorers. Kansas 82, Stanford 73.
