Fort Hays State came to play on Tuesday night, giving the Jayhawks a run for a good half plus a few minutes, but Kansas eventually pulled away with a dominating second half for an 86-57 victory.
Kansas trailed 29-28 with 3:34 until halftime before the Jayhawks went on a mini-run to take a 38-33 lead into the break.
The Jayhawks would ramp up the defensive intensity, but still didn’t click right away, leading just 48-40 with 14:07 left in the game. A 17-4 run over the next three minutes would put it away though, and KU would cruise to the final 29-point margin.
Devonte Graham led all scorers with 27 points on 8-12 shooting, including 6-10 from behind the arc. He added 8 assists against just 1 turnover.
