Well that wasn’t the least bit close. Kansas absolutely dominated the Texas Southern Tigers in a 114-71 blowout. 7 Jayhawks scored in double figures while Graham, Vick and Garrett all had double-doubles. Svi lead Kansas with 21 points on 9 shots and Azubuike plowed through Texas Southern’s defense for 21 points and an absolute monster of a dunk in the first half. Walk-ons Chris Teahan and Clay Young also managed to get into the books during garbage time.
We didn’t expect this one to be close and when the Jayhawks scored 66 at halftime, we knew it was over. For Texas Southern, Demontrae Jefferson lead the team with 24 points. 7’2” center Trayvon Reed did his best to contain Azubuike but should feel good after this one scoring 19 points.
This was the first game of the Hoophall Miami Invitational. Kansas will face off against Oakland on Friday the 24th.
