Kansas Jayhawks Basketball Predictions: Kentucky Wildcats

We sit down and decide how tonight's game is going to go.

The stage is set for a fantastic night of basketball. The Champions Classic is a marquee event every year, and this year matches the two most winning programs in the country in the Kentucky Wildcats and Kansas Jayhawks. Can Kansas close the gap in overall wins with a victory tonight?

Fizzle406: I don't know anything about this Kentucky team. They struggled against Vermont but Kansas struggled against Fort Hays. My friend who is a Kentucky fan claims most Kentucky diehards are saying Kansas by 15. Given KU’s history at the Champions Classic, I'm gonna go Kentucky 73, Kansas 68

dnoll5: That first half against Tennessee State was something to see, but for some reason, I just don’t see KU replicating that 100% shooting from deep that got them that comfy lead in the first place. Sure, Kentucky had a scare against a decent Vermont team, but I think John Calipari will have his troops a little more focused for this one. It’s early in the year, and both teams are still figuring things out, but I’ll take a KU win in this one simply to get me through this week. Kansas 77, Kentucky 70.

Mike.Plank: Well we shouldn’t see a repeat of 2014. And that’s about all I have regarding this matchup. Like fizzle, I don’t know much about UK. So to make dnoll happy I will go this soccer thing: I believe that we will win. Only we’ll score a lot more goals than you’ve ever seen in a soccer match. Kansas 75, Kentucky 70.

David: It feels like Kentucky probably has an athletic advantage, but there's no question Kansas has an experience advantage, which probably translates to a slight basketball advantage. I expect a close, tough game where Kentucky probably goes on a few runs and looks like a junior NBA team, but Kansas has the overall edge due to experience playing in huge games. Kansas 78, Kentucky 74

Andy Mitts: The experience edge is what everyone has been talking about, but even guys like Marcus Garrett are playing extremely well for the Jayhawks. I think Kansas will run away with this one late, as Kentucky loses their composure down the stretch. Kansas 87, Kentucky 71
