I have been begging David Beaty to hire an offensive coordinator for forever now, and not only has he done it, it looks like he has hit a home run. Kansas hired former TCU co-offensive coordinator Doug Meacham today.
Under Meacham, TCU ranked 2nd in the nation in scoring in 2014, 7th in scoring in 2015, and 7th in scoring this past season.
Diving into the more advanced stats a bit, TCU ranked 45th, 18th, and 17th in the nation in offensive S&P the last three seasons.
Simply put, this is an absolute home run hire by Beaty. Meacham knows the area well, is a smart and talented offensive mind, and has proven he can develop receivers. With Kansas running the air raid, they’ll obviously need to develop receivers as much as possible.
Meacham was also a 2014 finalist for the Broyles Award as the top assistant coach in college football. He also spent 8 years at Oklahoma State as the tight ends and inside receivers coach, and was the passing game coordinator in 2008 and 2009.
