Last month, it was widely reported that former Kansas basketball star Perry Ellis would attend preseason camp with the Charlotte Hornets in an attempt to make their roster. Today, Ellis officially signed with the Hornets.
Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
He is now officially a part of their training camp roster. Camp begins on Monday, September 26.
It looks as if Charlotte will have 18 players in camp, so Ellis will have to beat out at least three other players to make the NBA roster. It should also be noted that 14 of the players in camp have guaranteed contracts.
*Update: Per the Hornets official roster, there will be 19 players in camp.
Ellis had surgery to correct a sports hernia back on August 30 and was expected to be out 3-4 weeks. His recovery from that could affect his ability to make the roster, so hopefully, he is back to 100% and ready to go.
Over the summer, Ellis competed with the Dallas Mavericks in the Las Vegas Summer League after going undrafted after his senior campaign with the Jayhawks.
