The Oklahoma Sooners invade Lawrence to open up the Big 12 volleyball slate for both squads tonight.
Oklahoma is 9-4 with losses to UTSA, #21 Southern Cal, Maryland, and #4 Washington. The Sooners are 0-2 versus the only ranked teams they've played. OU was picked to finish 5th in the Big 12 in the preseason poll.
Kansas is 11-1 and coming off a 2-1 showing in the Stacey Clark Classic on the campus of Purdue University. Kansas fell to then #14 Purdue last weekend, who has since risen to #10 in the rankings. The Jayhawks opened the season at #4 and currently sit at #8 in the AVCA Top-25.
Common opponents for these two teams this year are Lamar, Mississippi State, and Maryland. Kansas swept all three teams 3-0 while Oklahoma defeated Lamar 3-0 and MSU 3-2, but fell to Maryland 0-3.
Kansas has won the last three matches against Oklahoma and is 14-3 versus the Sooners in the Horejsi Center.
