Kansas Jayhawks Football adds Arkansas transfer

RB Denzell Evans is transferring from Arkansas to KU.

Beth Hall-USA TODAY Sports

Originally reported by Matt Tait as a possibility, former 3-star RB recruit Denzell Evans has confirmed via his brother on Twitter that he will be transferring to KU.

Whole Hog Sports has also confirmed the transfer, although at the time of this post, Kansas Athletics has not.  Evans will be a redshirt junior in 2017 but is coming in as a graduate transfer, meaning he will be eligible immediately and have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Evans held several scholarship offers coming out of high school, ultimately choosing Arkansas over Arizona State, Colorado, Kansas State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Houston, and SMU.

Evans joins Colorado State transfer Deron Thompson, who committed to KU last month, as the latest members of the Kansas football program.  Thompson, however, will be forced to sit out 2016 in accordance with NCAA transfer rules.

Evans gives KU some much needed depth behind assumed starter Ke'aun Kinner.  While at Arkansas, Evans redshirted his freshman year and played mostly on special teams over the past two seasons.  Prior to that, he was a three-year starter at Houston's Bellaire High School.
