KU Softball Report: 5.03.16

KU looks to secure an NCAA Tournament bid as the season winds down.

KU Softball just wrapped up their final roadtrip of the year which saw them drop two of three from the Texas Longhorns in Austin. The Jayhawks only have six games left with which to bolster their record for an NCAA Tournament invite.

Performances of the Week

SP Alexis Reid (Saturday): 5.0 IP, 7 H, ER, BB, K

SS Chaley Brickey (Saturday): 3/3, 2B, HR, 2 R, RBI

Big 12 Standings

Oklahoma 41-7 12-1
Baylor 43-12 13-4
Texas 33-14 7-7
Kansas 28-18 5-7
Texas Tech 23-29 6-9
Oklahoma State 25-22 4-9
Iowa State 19-29 1-11

That Sunday rubber match with Texas was huge in terms of conference standings, and unfortunately it went to Texas.  KU still has six games left, three each with Oklahoma State and Iowa State.  Depending on how the rest of the conference games go, KU could still finish third in the conference.  Realistically, they are better than both of their final opponents, and should go at least 5-1 against them if not sweep them both, which should put KU in line for an NCAA Tournament bid.
