Kansas just wrapped up a three-game set with Oklahoma that saw the Jayhawks take two out of three from the Sooners in Lawrence over the weekend. In addition, Kansas had two non-conference games last week. Prior to KU falling to Nebraska (and apparently terrible officiating) on Wednesday night, the Tuesday matchup with Grand Canyon ended in a tie due to severe weather.
Performances of the Week
SP Ben Krauth vs Oklahoma: 6.1 IP, 9 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
LF Devin Foyle vs Grand Canyon: 4/5, 3B, R, 2 RBI, SB
Big 12 standings:
Texas Tech | 34-13 | 14-4 |
Oklahoma State | 28-15 | 12-6 |
TCU | 30-12 | 11-7 |
Texas | 20-24 | 9-9 |
West Virginia | 23-19 | 8-9 |
Oklahoma | 21-22-1 | 7-11 |
Kansas | 19-24-1 | 5-9 |
Baylor | 20-24 | 6-12 |
Kansas State | 21-23 | 5-10 |
Kansas has nine conference games left with Texas Tech, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State. As you can see, that currently includes the top two teams in the conference. Therefore, taking two of three from Oklahoma this past weekend was huge in terms of conference standing considering the remaining slate. In order to make the conference tournament, the Jayhawks will likely have to sweep K-State and steal a game or two from Tech and OSU.
