April 1st every year is either amazing or horrible, depending on how much you like people blatantly lying to each other for laughs. Regardless of how much you like the day, there are definitely some pranks worth mentioning.
We'll start with the KU related ones:
First, on Twitter, @RockChalkStats tweeted out that Bill Self and Kansas were parting ways. The news was immediately panned and as far as I can tell, no one actually believed it. The tweet had since been taken down, but at least one guy expressed his anger.
@rockchalkstats This is how you get unfollowed :/— Trent Hauck (@trent_hauck) April 1, 2016
@KuBballCamping tweeted out a successful prank.
I was just informed by @KUAthletics that there will be NO camping next year, it will be determined by your attendance at football games.— KUBasketball Camping (@KUBballCamping) April 1, 2016
You will need to check in with your student IDs and also check out so you can't just come in and then leave to get good spots.— KUBasketball Camping (@KUBballCamping) April 1, 2016
Outside of the Kansas realm, Google launched a "Mic drop" feature that people accidentally used, with disastrous results, spoiling the fun for the rest of us. A porn site decided to be corny for the day (not a link to the actual site). Deal website woot.com decided to celebrate April Fool's Bidet. And that's just a few really good ones.
Let us know which ones you thought were the best. Or just complain in general about people trying/failing to be clever.
