The Cyclones travel southward to take on the COMPLETELY INDISPUTABLE CONFERENCE CHAMPION Jayhawks on the final day of Big 12 Conference play for this season. ISU is making the return trip to Lawrence after knocking off Kansas by an 85-72 score in Ames back on January 25.
Iowa State (21-9, 10-7) is coming off a 58-50 win against Oklahoma State in Ames while Kansas (26-4, 14-3) enters today's contest off an 86-56 road evisceration of Texas.
As far as the Big 12 is concerned, this is a meaningless game - for Kansas. (Iowa State could finish anywhere from third to sixth depending on how the rest of the conference shakes out.) But on second look, it's not a meaningless game. This will be the last time that Evan Manning, Hunter Mickelson, Jamari Traylor, and Perry Ellis will run through that tunnel at Allen Fieldhouse. All four will start alongside Frank Mason.
Kansas hasn't lost on a senior day since 1984. Good luck, ISU.
By the way, this is also Bob Davis' final broadcast from Allen Fieldhouse. Might I suggest you mute the TV and listen along to the radio or online.
Here are the essentials:
The Numbers
#1 Kansas: 26-4, 14-3
#21 Iowa State: 21-9, 10-7
Line: Kansas is a 9.5-point favorite.
