Rasheed Sulaimon opened up the game with a three-pointer for Maryland, jump-starting the Terrapins to an early 18-12 lead.  The Jayhawks fought back, however, and after Kansas took a 27-26 lead on a Devonte Graham free throw, the two teams went back and forth until the Jayhawks took a 36-34 lead into halftime.

Once Kansas established a 52-43 lead with 14:43 to play courtesy of a 9-0 run, they managed to hold the Terrapins at arm's length for the rest of the game.  Foul trouble was an issue for both teams by the midway point of the second half, with Ellis, Lucas, Traylor, Diamond Stone, and Melo Trimble all with three or more fouls.

Maryland would never lead in the second half.

Final Score: Kansas 79, Maryland 63

Perry Ellis led the Jayhawks in scoring with 27 points on 10-17 shooting, missing his only three-point attempt.  Wayne Selden put up 19 points of his own on 7-15 shooting that included 2-5 from deep.

Kansas held Melo Trimble to 17 points on 5-16 shooting, including only 1-7 from behind the arc.

For the second straight game, Kansas dominated the glass, outrebounding Maryland 43-28.  Landen Lucas pulled down 11 boards.

Kansas will take on Villanova in the Elite 8 on Saturday, March 26.  The game is currently scheduled for a 7:49 tipoff (Central Time) on CBS.
