Kansas (30-4, 15-3) finished the regular season at #1 in the AP Poll. The Jayhawks are coming off an 81-71 win over West Virginia on Saturday in the Big 12 Tournament finals.
Austin Peay (18-17, 7-9) finished the season unranked. The Governors won the Ohio Valley conference tournament to claim their spot in the Dance.
This is the first ever meeting between Kansas and Austin Peay. The Jayhawks have never lost a game to any current member of the Ohio Valley Conference (19-0).
The Governors are coached by Dave Loos, who is 407-391 in his 26 seasons at Austin Peay. Loos is 491-443 in 30 seasons overall, which includes a stint at NAIA Christian Brothers University in the early 1980s.
Should the Jayhawks advance, they will take on the winner of Colorado-UConn in Des Moines on Saturday.
