Kansas and West Virginia meet this evening in the finals of the Big 12 Tournament at Sprint Center in Kansas City, MO.
West Virginia (26-7, 13-5) is coming off a 69-67 win against Oklahoma, after a buzzer beater by Buddy Hield was waived off when officials determined that Hield hadn't released the shot in time. Meanwhile, Kansas (29-4, 15-3) enters today's contest off a 70-66 win over Baylor in a game that saw the Jayhawks blow a 16-point lead with less than two minutes left in the game.
Kansas literally has nothing to play for today other than pride. Kansas will be the #1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament regardless of today's outcome.
West Virginia may or may not be able to improve their seeding with a win, but you know they aren't mystified or afraid of Kansas, and they'll likely look at today as an opportunity to put the rest of the Big 12 on notice; they're here, and they aren't going anywhere.
Here are the essentials:
The Numbers
#1 Kansas: 29-4, 15-3
#9 West Virginia: 26-7, 13-5
