No. 2/2 Kansas (24-4, 12-3 Big 12) returns to the friendly confines of Allen Fieldhouse to host Texas Tech (18-9, 8-7), Saturday, at 11 a.m. on ESPN.
"We shouldn’t even be talking like that. We should be talking about playing Texas Tech, and that’s how we’ll handle it with our guys," stated Self, realizing nothing is guaranteed against a Tech team that has wins over No. 3 Oklahoma, No. 21 Baylor and No. 14 Iowa State in the five-game stretch of wins.
Defensively, Tech’s biggest strength is its shot-blocking ability. The Red Raiders are averaging 4.5 swats a game in league play, second only to OU’s 5.9. So finding ways to frustrate KU around the rim will also be critical in their upset bid.
Kansas football head coach David Beaty announced that Joe DeForest has joined the KU coaching staff and will serve as the Jayhawks' special teams coordinator. In addition to his role as special teams coordinator, DeForest will be an assistant coach on the defensive side of the ball.
With spring practices slated to start eight days from tomorrow and three coaching vacancies still to fill, Kansas University football coach David Beaty is running out of time. Or is he?
What is it going to take to turn the program around? It should not be allowed to continue as it is. The university deserves better. A longtime, highly respected former sportswriter recently told this writer, "KU needs a chancellor who realizes football is the paddle that propels the canoe. Unfortunately, the next good season is decades away if massive changes aren’t made in the program."
(Mr Ed says: I realize this is an editorial, but all the author seems to want to do is fire everyone. There's nothing about what the people in charge of football are doing wrong. Also, I can guarantee you that the "mood" in the football offices isn't all gloom and doom, as this author suggests.)
Originally slated for a noon start, head coach Ritch Price and Kansas Athletics officials decided Friday to move up the start time one hour to 11 a.m. Not only will this allow fans to catch the men's basketball game against Iowa State at 3 p.m., but will allow the baseball game to be broadcast as regularly scheduled on ESPN3.
The Kansas Jayhawks are set to face off against the Iowa State Cyclones in basketball on the same day as the Kansas caucus. A petition has been created to change the time of the game.

While you were watching (from the stands), sleeping (during another late-night Pac-12 game) or actually crunching the numbers, the most notable college football record of the modern era was set.
Why Alaska hates Alabama so much, I'm not sure. Maybe it's because both states start with "ala" and there's a natural rivalry there. I don't know.
Jim Harbaugh earned his praise, but where did the rest of 2015 college football coaching hires check in as we re-ranked the field after one year of on-field action?
Just for fun
Mr. Ed says: Just wanted to make sure everyone saw this fanpost; I loved it!
