The Lawrence Journal-World is reporting that two KU football players were arrested over the weekend after a robbery early Saturday morning near Jayhawker Towers.
The players named in the police report are CB Eric Rivers (Jr) and LB Kendall Duckworth (So).
In addition, Rivers was involved in a separate incident the next night with charges including sexual batter and criminal restraint. David Beaty has removed Rivers from the team, while Duckworth has been indefinitely suspended from all team activities.
According to the LJW, both players were released from the Douglas County Jail on Monday afternoon. In an email to the LJW, David Beaty was quoted as saying:
"I am aware of the situation and am in the process of gathering all of the facts. Eric Rivers has been dismissed from the program for a violation of team rules. For the time being, Kendall Duckworth has been suspended from all team activities."
Both of these guys are pretty far down on the depth chart. Rivers has yet to log a snap in a game while Duckworth played extremely sparingly this past season.
