Jayhawks cruise past UMKC 105-62

NCAA Basketball: UMKC at Kansas Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

This one wasn’t close for very long as KU just blitzed the ‘Roos en route to a 105-62 victory.

Recap

Kansas scored the first five points of the game and quickly opened up a 13-3 lead. UMKC made it interesting a couple of times, closing to within 15-11 and 24-19, but overall just didn’t have the horses to run with Kansas all night long. By halftime the score was 51-35 in favor of Kansas, and it never got better for UMKC in the second half.

KU hit the century mark with 4:03 left in the game on a Dwight Coleby layup, and Tyler Self and Co. entered the game with 2:35 to go. Traditionally, the Rock Chalk chant began with a minute left on the clock.

This and That

Frank Mason led all scorers with 30 points on 11-14 shooting, including 6-7 from behind the arc. Mason also had five boards and five assists.

Josh Jackson had several highlights per usual to go along with 19 points on 8-12 shooting, with 12 rebounds and five assists.

Devonte Graham added 18 points on 6-8 shooting - all 3-pointers!

As a team, Kansas hit 15-27 (55.6%) 3-pointers.

Officially a problem now, Kansas only made 12-22 (54.5%) free throws.
