RCT Bets the Big 12: Week 11

Watch out .500, here I come!

So, betting against myself kinda worked out. I mean, it didn’t really work out, because I went 3-3. So if I would have bet what I actually thought, I still would have gone 3-3. Although that’s not a true representation of my picks, because I’m throwing $10 on the Kansas moneyline every week. That’s definitely been racking up some L’s for me.

Ok so I just re-read that first paragraph, and even I’m confused. Let’s move on.

Starting bank: $1500

+/- for the year: -$391

Last week’s bank: $1109

LAST WEEK

Oklahoma @ Iowa State +20.5, WON $27

Texas @ Texas Tech, TTU Moneyline, LOST $40

TCU +7.5 @ Baylor, WON $18

Oklahoma State @ Kansas State -3, LOST $30

Kansas +34.5 @ West Virginia and the KU Moneyline, WON $27 and LOST $10

Week 10 Won/Loss: -$8

Woohoo! After the disasters of Weeks 8 and 9, only losing $8 is totally a WIN!

Last week’s bank: $1109

New bank: $1101

Last week: 3-3

Overall picks: 29-38-1

Fonzie isn’t thrilled with how this week went, but we’re both confident there’s some major profits coming my way, and soon.

K-State is off this week, so I don’t have to worry about that balancing act. TCU also has a bye.

I had planned on adding the basketball game against Indiana to this week’s column, but as of Wednesday night, no lines had been posted. (That’s a link to Yahoo Sports odds, so it is a safe-for-work link.)

Standard reminder that this is purely for entertainment purposes only. I am not actually betting real money on these games. But if you are, obviously don’t take my advice ever, and never bet more than you can afford to lose.

Baylor @ Oklahoma

Line: Oklahoma -16

O/U: 81

Moneyline: +500

If Baylor can lose by 40 at home to TCU, they sure as hell can do the same thing on the road in Norman. Baylor football is the Titanic right now – they’re taking on water, they’re sinking fast, and if the people on board are smart, they’ll get off any way possible.

My bet: $50 Oklahoma -16

Iowa State @ Kansas

Line: Iowa State -10

O/U: 56

Moneyline: +290

Iowa State can score. Kansas can’t. Still, I think the Jayhawks take this opportunity to put up some yards and points, and that low Over/Under is very inviting. KU knows, whether they’ll admit it or not, that this is their best shot at a win over an FBS team this year (Ohio notwithstanding). The QB situation is in flux, but I think if Carter Stanley gets the nod, the points will come.

My bet: $40 on the OVER, $40 on the Kansas Moneyline

West Virginia @ Texas

Line: Texas -2

O/U: 64

Moneyline: +110

So this is another one of those “what the hell” double takes when I look at this line. Seems to me like it’s wrong team favored, so you know that means Texas is gonna knock off another ranked team at home.

My bet: $40 Texas -2

Texas Tech @ Oklahoma State

Line: Oklahoma State -12.5

O/U: 89.5

Moneyline: +392

A week after putting up 43 on one of the better defenses in the conference, I think Oklahoma State just destroys the worst defense in the Big 12. The Cowboys still control their destiny in the conference, and they know it.

My bet: $30 Oklahoma State -12.5

DrCrushALot’s Picks of the Week

Each week, DrCrushALot will provide a maximum of five games that he likes.

Season record: 16-19

Last week: 3-1

Texas A&M -13.5 @ Mississippi State, LOSS

Pittsburgh @ Miami FL -3, WIN

Florida @ Arkansas +5.5, WIN

Alabama -7.5 @ LSU, WIN

Doc turned around his fortunes last week, only whiffing on the Aggies who got bushwacked in Starkville. Can he keep it going?

This week:

I’m giving you all a full five games this week, because you deserve it, and because I feel strongly about all of them. After this week, I will be at or above .500.

Boston College @ Florida State -21. Boston College just lost at home to Louisville by a ton and it could have been even worse. I’ll take Florida State to cover easily.

Penn State -6.5 @ Indiana. Penn State is roaring this season (even though they probably shouldn't be playing football currently) and Indiana will not stop them. Penn State in a romp.

Illinois @ Wisconsin -26.5. Wisconsin will win but they don't score enough for this line. Illinois to cover.

Vanderbilt +3.5 @ Missouri. Sorry Missouri, you don't get to be a favorite against anyone this year. Roll Commodores.

And lastly…

Iowa State @ Kansas +10. It’s battle of 1-7 teams and I will take the points and the home team. Let’s go Kansas.

I was considering claiming whatever the line is on Saturday morning for KU since I think money will come in on Iowa State later this week, but this will suffice.
