The exhibition season begins for the Kansas Jayhawks, who are ranked in the top five in both polls (2/3). Kansas returns three starters and eight lettermen from last year's squad that went 33-5 (15-3 Big 12). The Jayhawks were unsurprisingly picked to finish first in the Big 12.

Washburn comes in after finishing 2015-16 with a 15-13 (11-11 MIAA) record. The Ichabods return all five starters and 10 letterwinners off of that squad. Washburn was picked to finish second in the MIAA this season.
