How to watch Washburn Ichabods at Kansas Jayhawks and Open Game Thread

Foot... ball? It’s basketball season!

NCAA Basketball: Baylor at Kansas John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

The exhibition season begins for the Kansas Jayhawks, who are ranked in the top five in both polls (2/3). Kansas returns three starters and eight lettermen from last year's squad that went 33-5 (15-3 Big 12). The Jayhawks were unsurprisingly picked to finish first in the Big 12.

Washburn comes in after finishing 2015-16 with a 15-13 (11-11 MIAA) record. The Ichabods return all five starters and 10 letterwinners off of that squad. Washburn was picked to finish second in the MIAA this season.

The Ichabods are coached by Bob Chipman, who is 788-343 in 38 seasons, all at Washburn.

The Jayhawks and Ichabods have met 40 times in their history with KU holding a 37-3 head-to-head advantage. Washburn’s three wins came in 1913, 1928, and 1944, all in Topeka.

All-time, KU is 77-9 in exhibition contests, including 45-2 under Bill Self. The Jayhawks have won 44 straight exhibition games in Allen Fieldhouse, with the last home loss to Australia in 1993.
