If you want to get technical (you don’t), this isn’t really about Kansas basketball. But Joel Embiid, who was last seen scoring 13 points and grabbing 13 rebounds against Oklahoma State on March 1, 2014, returned to competitive basketball last night. It was a mixed bag, but Embiid finished with 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks in 13 minutes. If you remember how quickly Embiid picked things up at Kansas, you’ll nod knowingly at this tweet:
Embiid's first 4 minute run: "What is this sport I'm playing?" Embiid's second 4 minute run: "This is my team now."

He also did this to 3rd overall pick Jaylen Brown:

Embiid’s first points came on a turnaround that looked pretty familiar to Kansas fans:

Embiid also hit a jumper with his foot on the 3 point line, and most importantly was able to stay healthy. It was just one game (one half really) of preseason basketball, but Embiid flashed the potential that made him one of the best draft prospects in recent memory.
