Baylor won the toss, took the ball, and 11 plays later, scored on the opening possession of the game. The Bears also scored on KU’s first possession of the game (with a pick-6), and the rout was on.
The Kansas defense stiffened for a bit, as Baylor followed that up with Punt, Touchdown (21-0), Punt, Missed FG, Missed FG, but the Kansas offense continued its season-long ineptitude. Willis tossed two first half INTs, the offensive line kept getting beat by a three-man front, and KU averaged 1.6 yards per rush in the first half.
Baylor would score on its final three possession of the first half and took a 42-0 lead into halftime.
It’s hard to read anything into what happened in the second half, but it bears mentioning Willis threw another INT in KU’s first possession of the third quarter. That makes seven turnovers for Willis in two games. Unacceptable.
Beaty has got to try something different. What that is, I don’t know, but this - whatever this is - isn’t working.
We’ll take a closer look at the game over the next day or two, but for now, the comments section is yours.
