National Signing Day: 20 Days and the State of the Big 12

With 20 Days until National Signing Day, let's take a look at the Big 12 as a whole.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Big 12 is ranked 5th overall in the conference team rankings according to scout.com. As it stands right now that is fourth among the power five, currently edging out the ACC.

Baylor is the "prom queen" of this recruiting dance in the Big 12 but don't let that fool you, Baylor has the 15th ranked recruiting class. In fact the Big 12 has only three teams with a top 25 recruiting class: Baylor at 15, TCU at 19, and as we all predicted Texas Tech at 22nd. The overall view of the Big 12 rankings look like this:

1 (15) - Baylor

Class Stats: This class has a total of 20 commits. Three Top 100 prospects. Eight 4 Star commits. Ten 3 Star commits.

2 (19) - TCU

Class Stats: This class has a total of 19 commits. One Top 100 prospect. Eight 4 Star commits. Ten 3 Star commits.

3 (22) - Texas Tech

Class Stats: This class has a total of 26 commits. Two 4 Star commits. Eighteen 3 Star commits.

4 (29) - Oklahoma

Class Stats: This class has a total of 15 commits. Seven 4 Star commits. Seven 3 Star commits.

5 (32) - Texas

Class Stats: This class has a total of 13 commits. One Top 100 prospect. Six 4 Star commits. Seven 3 Star commits.

6 (38) - West Virginia

Class Stats: This class has a total of 21 commits. Two 4 Star prospects. Sixteen 3 Star commits.

7 (49) - Oklahoma State

Class Stats: This class has a total of 18 commits. Sixteen 3 Star commits.

8 (64) - Iowa State

Class Stats: This class has a total of 16 commits. Nine 3 Star commits.

9 (74) - Kansas State

Class Stats: This class has a total of 13 commits. Six 3 Star commits.

10 (75) - Kansas

Class Stats: This class has a total of 13 commits. Six 3 Star commits.

With only 20 days until National Signing Day, Baylor and TCU are expected to lead the pack this year in recruiting. It is hard to count out Oklahoma and Texas though. Oklahoma has a lot of success on the field which leads many to believe that they will be able to pull some key recruits in the final days. The same goes for Texas. It is no secret that Charlie Strong has a special ability to close out strong when it comes to recruiting. A key name to watch is Brandon Jones, who is the number one safety in the country and has a final two of Texas and Texas A&M.  Nonetheless it is very clear that the Big 12 as a whole needs to do a little bit better in the recruiting world but this final month is always unpredictable and should make for an interesting finish.
