This era of KU football can be defined as including this year's team and the previous five years under Beaty's predecessors, which means, mostly, Turner Gill and Charlie Weis. Their coaching, to put it nicely, turned Kansas football into a mushroom cloud.

The University Daily Kansan talked to a handful of students on campus about the Jayhawks football team. Not only could most of the students not tell the reporter what the team's record was in 2014, but there weren't many who could name even a single player or the coach.

It is entirely possible that there were some students who were able to answer the questions correctly. However, there were at least enough students who struggled to do so that a video segment was able to be created.
