The NCAA determined that UAB can resume playing in 2017 and compete immediately at the Football Bowl Subdivision level, according to a university news release. UAB will not be subject to FBS requirements for three years starting in 2015-16 and will be counted as an FBS opponent once it begins playing again. UAB could also be immediately eligible for a bowl game and the Conference USA championship in 2017.
