Scout's Evan Daniels reported earlier today that incoming Jayhawk LaGerald Vick, originally a 2016 recruit, is reclassifying and will be available this coming season (I believe he will be on the team for the World University Games as well but correct me if not).
Vick was originally ranked as a sub 100 recruit in the class of 2016, but a big spring period vaulted him all the way up to 247 Sports' 28th ranked recruit in the class of 2015, giving Bill Self his third straight excellent recruiting class.
Vick will likely start as a backup, but those who have seen him play AAU think he can potentially challenge to start in the backcourt for Wayne Selden or Svi Mykhailiuk as soon as this coming season. From the little I have seen him play, he looks like a smooth, though not super explosive, athlete who can get into the lane well and can finish around the rim.
The more pressing KU centric matter is the Jayhawks are now filled up on scholarships, meaning 7'2" Providence transfer Paschal Chukwu, whom I once thought was a lock to KU, probably won't be coming. There could be a transfer in the cards, especially because as far as I know Chukwu is still scheduled to visit, but for now room will have to be made to get him into the program.
