The Big 12 and Southeastern conferences have announced an extension of their women's basketball challenge that will expand to 10 games in 2016 and 2017. Kansas is scheduled to play at Alabama in 2016 and host Arkansas in 2017.

One person close to the discussions told, "Willing to bet the conference title game hurts the Big 12 more often than it helps." A case can be made.

North Dakota's search for new team name corrupted by snarky public -

The general public was going to be allowed to send in submissions that had to be 25 characters or less including spaces. The committee asked that submissions “be unique, recognizable, inspiring and distinctly UND's; promote a sense of pride, strength, fierceness and passion; be representative of the state and region in a way that honors the traditions and heritage of the past, but also looks to the future and be a unifying and rallying symbol.”

The internet being what it is, by and large, did not listen.

On Monday night, the Hiroshima Carp in Japan earned a 3-2 walk-off win over the Tokyo Giants. It was hardly an ordinary walk-off win, though. No home run, no base hit, not even a bases loaded walk. It was a dropped popup with the infield fly rule in effect.
