Dexter McDonald Drafted By Raiders in 7th Round

RCT congratulates the newest Raider!

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Dexter McDonald joins his teammate Ben Heeney as the newest members of the Oakland Raiders.  McDonald was selected by the Raiders with the 25th pick in the 7th Round, #242 overall.   Like Heeney, the now-former Jayhawk will try to make a name for himself in the AFC West.

According to the roster at ESPN.com, McDonald joins T.J. Carrie, DJ Hayden, Chance Casey, Keith McGill, Neiko Thorpe, and Jansen Watson as cornerbacks on the Oakland roster.

Dexter was overshadowed by JaCorey Shepherd the past two years at KU, but was a solid corner in his own right.  McDonald is a good combination of size (6'1", 200 lbs) and speed (4.42 in the 40) and should push for a roster spot in year one.  His technique may need some work, but his size and quickness should enable him to get a long hard look by the NFL.
