2015 NFL Draft Profile: Nick Harwell

Nick Harwell spent his senior year at Kansas, and hopes to start a career playing at the next level

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Harwell put up huge numbers through three years at Miami of Ohio, but off-the-field trouble led to a transfer for his senior year. Harwell was Kansas' top wideout, but didn't see the production he was able to compile in the MAC.

2014 Stats

44 receptions

470 yards

5 TDs

Pro Day/Combine Results

Height/Weight: 6'1", 193 lbs

40-yard dash: 4.52 seconds

225 lb bench press: 9 reps

Vertical jump: 34.5 inches

Broad jump: 10'3"

3-cone drill: 6.65 seconds

60-yard shuttle: 11.75 seconds

Strengths

Harwell is a solid route runner with very respectable speed. He adjusts to the ball well and can be trusted to catch it when the ball reaches his hands. Harwell is an instinctive football player who knows how to find space.

Weaknesses

Harwell has below average size for the NFL level, and lacks the speed or athleticism to compensate for it. His straightaway speed and IQ at the position led to huge numbers at Miami OH, but he had more trouble getting open at the Big 12 level. Doesn't profile particularly well as a downfield threat or short range possession receiver.

Prediction

Harwell doesn't have the measurables to get himself drafted based on ceiling alone, so he'll likely have to go the route of getting into a camp and showing what his instincts and skills are worth at the position. He'll need to be prepared to do some work on special teams if he hopes to find a spot on a 53-man roster.
