2015 Spring Football - Quarterbacks

As we edge closer to the spring game on April 25th, let's take a look at what players remain, who has come on board and who will guide the 2015 Jayhawk quarterbacks.

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The new look Jayhawks will take part in spring practice on Saturday. Before that, let’s take a look at the current QB roster.

Rob Likens joined the Jayhawks in 2015 as the Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks coach after a very successful 2014 campaign for Cal. As the Assistant Head Coach/Passing Game Coordinator/Outside Receivers Coach, Likens lead the Golden Bears to their most productive passing season with at total of 4,152 yards and three Biletnikoff award candidates. Likens has coached in the college ranks on the offensive side of the ball since 1992 including back-to-back-to-back D-II national championships as the WR coach at North Alabama.

Likens has been very open about the two man battle between Michael Cummings (Sr.) and Montell Cozart (Jr.). Both players have started games for the Jayhawks, and both players have previously taken (and lost) the starting job from another. Cummings has had the most success and has the better portfolio, but Cozart’s skill set may be better suited for the new offense. It will be interesting to see this battle play out over the next few months.  This is their 3rd year competing for playing time. Also on the roster is the seldom-seen T.J. Millweard (Jr.) who played in three games last season (2-3-0 for 14 yards), transfer Brock Gilmore (Jr.-Coffeyville CC), and two other transfers.

Here is the current QB roster:
