Wichita State vs Kansas Open Game Thread

A different version of the Sunflower Showdown as the Jayhawks and Shockers reacquaint themselves on the hardwood.

The Jayhawks are 27-8 (13-5) and coming off a 75-56 win against New Mexico State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Kansas won the Big 12 regular season by one game over Iowa State and Oklahoma.

Wichita State comes in with a 29-4 (17-1) record. The Shockers are coming off an 81-76 win against Indiana in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Wichita State won the MVC regular season by one game over Northern Iowa.

The Jayhawks and Shockers have met 14 times in their history with KU holding a 12-2 head-to-head advantage. WSU's only two wins in the series came in 1981 and 1987. The 1981 game came in the NCAA Tournament in what would now be considered a Sweet 16 matchup. KU has won the last five matchups in a row with the Shockers. The most recent matchup, in 1993, was a 103-54 KU victory.

Wichita State finished ranked #14 in the AP Poll at the end of the year.

The Jayhawks were installed as 1.5 point favorites shortly after the pairing was announced. KenPom gives KU a 51% chance to win.
