Jayhawks halt Grizzlies 88-46

Kansas demolishes the visitors and sets a new Guinness World Record.

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Montana took a 2-0 lead on the first possession of the game, but that was as good as it would get for the visitors from Missoula.  Before you knew it, Kansas opened up leads of 9-4, 23-10, and 29-15 early in the first half and the rout was on.

Kansas led by 20 at the break and doubled up Montana again in the second half, finishing with a 42-point win.

Final score - Kansas 88, Loyola 46.

Perry Ellis led all scorers with 18 points.  Three other Jayhawks scored in double figures: Selden (11), Greene (11), and Svi (10).

Montana made only six field goals in the first half.

Mason led the Jayhawks with 9 assists - against zero turnovers.

Kansas outrebounded Montana 34-17.  Ellis led the way with 9.

As a team, Kansas hit 7/16 (43.8%) from behind the arc.  Greene hit 3/4, with Svi connecting on 2/4.

Once again, Clay Young, Tyler Self, and Evan Manning got some PT.

Tyler Self "contributed" two turnovers.

The Jayhawks led for 39:14.

Kansas set a new Guinness World Record for largest gathering of ugly holiday sweaters with 3,473 fans participating.

The old record was 1,175 set by Loughborough University in Loughborough, United Kingdom.

I'm still in Omaha and missed the game, so you tell me what to take away from today.
