Big XII Conference Recap: Week 10

Kansas competed hard but lost again, and if you need more insight into that contest, RCT has you covered. As for the rest of the Big XII, here’s a quick recap of all the games.

Rob Ferguson-USA TODAY Sports

Baylor 31 Kansas State 24

I don’t think Baylor was exactly overlooking K-State, Art Briles is too smart for that, but with their first big test of the season looming against Oklahoma next weekend, you’d probably be okay with it. Baylor took a 21-7 lead into the intermission, and it looked like relatively smooth sailing. Baylor backup QB Jarrett Stidham threw for 419 yards and three touchdowns after starting in place of the injured Seth Russell. But K-State made it close tagging two late touchdowns on to make it a seven-point game. K-State had a chance to tie it late, but wide receiver Cody Cook threw an interception to seal the win for the Bears.

Next up: Baylor hosts OU while K-State travels to Texas Tech

West Virginia 31 Texas Tech 26

This was the least interesting game of the weekend, and I’m not going to try to make you believe that I even knew it was on.

Here are some stats:

Tech QB Patrick Mahomes was 21 of 34, 196 yards and three touchdowns. West Virginia RB Wendell Smallwood went for 22 carries, 163 yards and a touchdown.

Next week Tech hosts K-State and West Virginia hosts Texas.

Oklahoma State 49 TCU 29

Well, well, well. Oklahoma State dominated this thing from the get go and wholly deserves the win. Cowboy QB Mason Rudolph threw for 352 yards and five touchdowns as Oklahoma State pushes their name closer to the playoff picture. They have Iowa State next week but end their season by hosting Baylor and Oklahoma. I’m not afraid to admit to say that I didn't see it coming.

Oklahoma 52 Iowa State 16

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield was 23 of 31 for 342 yards and three touchdowns as the Sooners overwhelmed the Cyclones. Samaje Perine carried it just 13 times but averaged 7.3 yards per carry and a total of 95 yards. Next week, Oklahoma travels to Baylor in a huge title showdown while Iowa State hosts Oklahoma State.
