Champions Classic and Michigan State v Kansas Open Game Thread

Lots of good games on tonight, so we'll open up the game thread early.

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

There's Oklahoma-Memphis on right now (on ESPN). Kentucky and Duke is scheduled to start at 6:30 PM Jayhawk time. You've also got Wichita State and Tulsa at 7 PM (ESPN3), Nebraska and Villanova at 7:30 (FS1), and Georgetown and Maryland at 8 PM (ESPN2).

The nightcap for everyone is Kansas-Michigan State, scheduled for a 9 PM tip-off. Obviously that will be affected by the game preceding it (UK-Duke).

The Jayhawks travel to Chicago, IL for the fifth round of the Champions Classic, where they will square off against Sparty. The Champions Classic is a double-header, and the Jayhawks have the second game tonight, tentatively scheduled for 9 PM Kansas time, or 30 mins after the Duke-Kentucky game.

So far on the year, Kansas is 1-0 after defeating Northern Colorado in their season opener, 109-72. Michigan State is also 1-0 after an 82-55 affair over Florida Atlantic.

MSU leads the all-time series with Kansas, 6-5. Sparty comes into this game ranked #13 in the AP poll, while the Jayhawks sit at #4. The Jayhawks prevailed in the most recent matchup between the schools, a 61-56 victory in the championship game of the Orlando Classic last November.

So far, Kansas is only 1-3 in the Champions Classic after last year's debacle against Kentucky. KU is scheduled to play Duke in New York City in the 2016 Champions Classic.
