Oklahoma 44 Baylor 34
It was the game of the weekend in college football. This game had just about everything, and despite the inflated scoreline, some great defense as well. Baylor’s Travon Blanchard had a key interception to keep his team close, and Oklahoma’s Ahmad Thomas intercepted Baylor freshman QB Jarrett Stidham late in the fourth quarter to preserve the lead and keep it from getting more interesting. What is interesting are the standings in the Big 12 and how things will shake out when it comes to the playoffs in college football. Oklahoma hosts TCU next while Baylor plays at Oklahoma State.
Oklahoma State 35 Iowa State 31
Iowa State rode some momentum into the fourth quarter, having scored at the end of the third to give them an improbable 10-point lead. But, Oklahoma State scored the only points of the final frame on a touchdown run from JW Walsh and a catch by Jeff Carr. The Cowboys stay undefeated with their final two games at home against Baylor and in-state rival Oklahoma. Things are getting interesting indeed.
West Virginia 38 Texas 20
I’ll just keep mentioning it until I can’t. Last season, Texas coach Charlie Strong proclaimed that you’d never see another six loss Texas team again. Well, sorry Charlie. And really, that win over Oklahoma is looking all the more improbable and they still have Texas Tech and Baylor on the schedule. An eight-loss Texas team sounds awesome to me. You?
Texas Tech 59 Kansas State 44
Texas Tech used a dominant first quarter to set the offensive tone in this one. With 1:32 left in the first quarter it was 28-7 Red Raiders with only a K-State kick return to placate forlorn Wildcat fans. But, the K-State offense got moving in the second quarter and five minutes into the second half, this was a one TD game. Alas, K-State isn’t equipped to get into a shootout and their second half comeback stalled. Up Next: KSU hosts ISU next week while Tech travels to Texas on 11/26
