The Kansas Women's Volleyball program is one of three remaining Division 1 unbeatens (Arizona State, USC), and now sits at #10 in the newest AVCA Top 25 poll released earlier today. It is the first time KU has ever cracked the top 10 in volleyball, and therefore, obviously, the highest-ever ranking attained by the program. The Jayhawks are coming off a week where they swept TCU in Fort Worth and swept West Virginia in Lawrence.
Big 12 Conference bully Texas sits at #2 in the country. No other Big 12 program is ranked or even receiving votes.
As a team, Kansas leads the nation in kills per set, so it would make sense that sophomore setter Anise Havili would also lead the NCAA in assists per set.
This week, Kansas (15-0) travels to Texas Tech (12-5) on Wednesday and hosts Iowa State (9-5) on Saturday. Both squads are solid, and the Jayhawks can't afford to overlook anyone this early in the conference slate. In fact, Iowa State was picked to finish second in the Big 12 this year in the preseason poll (KU was predicted fourth).
