Texas 24 Oklahoma 17
Well, I guess I have to stop laughing at Texas for a while. The Longhorns controlled this game from the get go and Oklahoma never really found its rhythm, especially from a passing standpoint. In the final drives of the game, it seemed like Texas got a big play whenever it needed one. Oklahoma will take a dive, and rightfully so, in the rankings this week. Next week, they host K-State while Texas has a bye week.
Texas Tech 66 Iowa State 31
Well, this doesn’t bode well for the Kansas football team next weekend. Tech absolutely blew away Iowa State who did the same to Kansas. Patrick Mahomes threw for 428 yards and five touchdowns. Neat. Iowa State hosts TCU next week.
TCU 52 Kansas State 45
TCU outscored K-State 35-10 in the second half on their way to a comeback road win. In addition to throwing for 301 yards and two touchdowns, Heisman candidate Trevone Boykin led his team in rushing as well tallying 124 yards and two more scores on just 11 carries. After blowing their massive first half lead, KSU took the lead back with a Jack Cantele field goal with 1:47 to go, but that left Boykin enough time to lead TCU to the winning score. In fact, it only took 37 seconds as he connected on a 55 yard pass to Josh Doctson to seal the win. Next weekend K-State travels to Oklahoma while TCU travels to Iowa State.
Oklahoma State 33 West Virginia 26 (OT)
Oklahoma State got off to a 17-2 lead by the half and a 23-9 lead half way through the 3rd quarter, but West Virginia rallied and went on a 17-3 run late to force OT. Backup QB J.W. Walsh provided the lone touchdown in overtime as OSU stayed undefeated…barely. West Virginia travels to Baylor next week while the Cowboys have the week off before playing Kansas.
