K-Uniform Review: Central Michigan

What did the Kansas football team wear in their game this past weekend? We examine the food at is was a newgt, the bad, and the ugly of the game against Central Michigan.

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Well, KU has now played three games and we have yet to see the traditional blue helmet. I think we’ll definitely see it next weekend, but let’s focus on this week first.

The Best Feature

For the third week in a row, the helmet was the best feature of the set although I really like the white/blue/white combination, as I know some of my fellow bloggers do as well. The contrast is really there and the uniforms look sharp and clean. They looked great in this set last year, and I was a little shocked that this combination didn’t get picked for the home opener as I thought it was the best of the three. Either way, I’m glad that they decided to wear this combo again.

Just like the red helmet, the logo on the white helmet has been enlarged and I think that this is small, but important upgrade on KU’s uniforms this season.

Overall Grade: A-

How’d the Teams Look Together?

In one word: good. There was contrast and with Central Michigan wearing maroon/white/maroon, and there was plenty of color without overdoing it with a monochromatic set like Duke wore last week. From a KU perspective, this game was a huge improvement over the Duke game in every aspect from the actual play on the field to the uniforms both sides wore.

In the 2014 KU uniform preview, I made a bold set of predictions for this game.

Prediction: Blue/Blue/Light Grey

Preference: Blue/Blue/Light Grey

Yep, I decided to put all of my eggs in the Blue/Blue/Light Grey basket and I was dead wrong. I actually considered predicting white pants, which would’ve given me more leeway, but it still would’ve been wrong. Considering KU has yet to wear a "traditional" uniform set this season, I have a strange feeling that my predictions for next week are going to be brutally off base. Either way, as long as KU can come out and compete, who cares how they look.

Again, three points is given for a correct prediction and one point is handed out for my preference coming to fruition. Here are my "standings" so far with the bold being the correct pick. No points this week I’m afraid.
