Breaking news today from Draft Express, who reports that Ukrainian 16 year old Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk will spurn Euroleague teams and Virginia to attend Kansas. Mykhailiuk will likely spend 2 years in a Jayhawk uniform which, combined with his talent, makes him one of the most exciting recruits Bill Self has grabbed in his time at Kansas.
Mykhailiuk was the youngest player in Hoop Summit history this year, when he played for the world team. He didn't see much playing time in the actual game, but he got rave reviews in practice. Mykhailiuk has also gotten a lot of playing time in the Ukrainian league with Cherkaski Mavpy.
Mykhailiuk was a member of the all tournament team at the 2013 Under 16 championships, averaging 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.
I hate comps, but I think a good one for Mykhailiuk is Nik Stauskas. He needs to get bigger and stronger (hello, Hudy) but he's got a great looking shot, can score in a variety of ways, and people rave about his passing ability and basketball IQ.
Below, video of Mykhailiuk at the recent Under 16 World Championships
