University of Kansas Softball NCAA Tournament: Kansas Upsets No. 19 Huskers, 3-1

The Jayhawks (34-21, 7-11 Big 12) will face Missouri on Saturday, May 17 at 3:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to the Regional Championship. The victory over the Cornhuskers marks the second victory over a Top-25 ranked team in 2014 and improves KU's record to 15-20 in NCAA Tournament play.

Border War resumes: KU softball beats Nebraska, faces Mizzou next |

Now the Jayhawks (34-21) will take on old Border War foe Missouri — a 6-5, eight-inning victor over Bradley on Friday — in the second round of the Columbia regional at 3:30 p.m. today.

KU softball team wins NCAA regional opener, now faces MU -

Kansas was a strike away from a scoreless first inning Friday but wound up scoring all of its runs in a 3-1 victory over Nebraska in the opening game of a NCAA softball regional at University Field. Next up for KU is Missouri at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The winner advances to the regional championship game Sunday. The loser faces an elimination game to reach Sunday's final.

University of Kansas Baseball No. 22 Kansas Seeded Third at Big 12 Championship

The No. 22-ranked Kansas baseball team will enter the 2014 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship as the No. 3 seed and will play the sixth-ranked school in the first round, the conference announced Friday afternoon.

ESPN: Freshmen key for Duke, KU | has listed five programs that will be "most reliant on freshmen" during the 2014-15 season. Surprise: Kentucky is not one of them.

Missouri sweats out win in NCAA softball opener, gets to face old rival Kansas next -

The Border War is back, but just barely. Missouri blew a four-run lead with two outs in the seventh inning against Bradley only to rally in the bottom of the inning and then escape with a 6-5 win in eight innings in the opening day of NCAA regional action.

Utah lawmaker: Bring back firing squad executions -

In the wake of a botched lethal injection in Oklahoma last month, a Utah lawmaker says he believes a firing squad is a more humane form of execution. And he plans to bring back that option for criminals sentenced to death in his state. (Ed. Note: I'm actually all for this.)
