Matt Tait: Based on what I learned from a handful of conversations I had throughout the day Tuesday, I'm elevating Texas A&M assistant coach David Beaty to the No. 1 spot in my percentage wheel.
The No. 11-ranked (5-1) Jayhawks, fresh off three wins and the Orlando Classic championship, still have some shooting stats in need of fixing, however, in large part because of that 11-of-56 performance versus the Wildcats.
Mykhailiuk's reputation is so solid internationally that, before enrolling, he was presented with opportunities to sign a pro contract in Europe. The Kansas staff forever remained optimistic he'd make good on his commitment. But there was no way to know for sure.
Smith, who is 151-116 at the helm the Kansas softball program, has once again scheduled a challenging non-conference slate, highlighted by two games against the 2014 National Champion Florida Gators. Kansas' non-conference opponents include a total of five programs that appeared in the postseason.
Kansas volleyball will begin its third-consecutive NCAA Tournament with an overall national seed and a first and second round host when the Jayhawks welcome Sun Belt Conference champion Arkansas-Little Rock to the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, Kansas, Friday at 6:30 p.m.
“We’d love to play in Horejsi or the fieldhouse, but that’s not gonna happen,” Bechard admitted. “But the administration stepped up and made it happen over in Topeka, which is far better than going into a seeded-team’s place and having to beat them on their home floor. We’re still gonna have more fans than everybody else, we’re gonna get over there to practice, and the travel on us is going to be easier than on everybody else.”

"The fiscal realities we face -- both from an operating and a capital investment standpoint -- are starker than ever and demand that we take decisive action for the greater good of the athletic department and UAB," Watts said in a statement released by the university. "As we look at the evolving landscape of NCAA football, we see expenses only continuing to increase. When considering a model that best protects the financial future and prominence of the athletic department, football is simply not sustainable."
"You're telling me it's because the numbers didn't look right? The numbers didn't look right?" an emotional Henderson said. "And you'll go home and sleep in a comfortable, big-ass house. But it's OK." Henderson, 26, a former MP in the Army who did a tour of duty in Iraq, left little on the table in his response to Watts, raising his voice to a fever pitch and at one point standing up and stepping closer to Watts.
Hackett formally announced his decision to fire the Wolverines' head coach shortly after Hoke shared the news with his team Tuesday afternoon. Hoke ends his four-year tenure in Ann Arbor with a 31-20 record. Hackett said the universal respect players and peers held for Hoke made his choice a difficult one.
Georgia Southern won the Sun Belt Conference championship with a perfect 8-0 record in league games. Because it was in its inaugural season in the FBS, Georgia Southern (9-3) was not eligible for a bowl bid. The school asked for a waiver on the rule.
The contingent of Florida staff, including athletic director Jeremy Foley, has spent hours meeting with Colorado State's Jim McElwain in the coach's Fort Collins home. A deal is expected to be reached late Tuesday or Wednesday with Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman reporting that the two sides are in the process of finalizing a contract.
Cyclones athletic director Jamie Pollard didn't guarantee Rhoads another year on a call-in radio show Monday, but per the Des Moines Register, he didn't sound like an AD ready to make a dismissal this off-season, either.
The committee has gone against every playground ethic we were ever taught. I beat you up and I'm better than you until we meet again. The committee is essentially saying definitively head-to-head doesn't matter in a tiebreaker between TCU and Baylor. That's a reality now. Win against Iowa State this week and the Frogs are basically in. Baylor? Best of luck against Kansas State but it's clear the Bears need help.
Speaking to ESPN and Sports Illustrated for the first time since Gurley was suspended indefinitely, Bryan Allen, of Douglasville, Ga., said he regrets emailing multiple media outlets with the story and the way things have played out since he paid Gurley $400 in cash for signing about 80 items of memorabilia.

With three seconds left in the game, the Mavericks trailed the Bulls by three after Pau Gasol made two free throws. Kirk Hinrich attempted to foul Monta Ellis on the floor—sending him to the line for two free throws instead of having a chance at making a game-tying three-pointer—but totally blew it. Instead, Hinrich jockeyed Ellis from behind, allowing Ellis to stop and cause Hinrich to foul him as he rose for the three. Ellis hit all of his free throws to send the game into overtime.
Remind me not to complain about putting a measly 900 lights on my tree Monday night, because they just require one plug and not thousands of moving lights that sync up with the song "Shout" while flashing "BILLS" every 30 seconds or so and eventually showing the Buffalo Bills logo on a freaking Christmas tree.
