It's basketball season again!

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball program looks to start off the 2014-15 campaign on the right foot with an exhibition game against the Ichabods of Washburn.  This will be the exhibition opener for both teams.  The game will be televised on Jayhawk IMG TV and can also be seen via the internet by fans outside of Kansas by visiting KUAthletics.com/ESPN.  For more information on accessing Kansas video content, visit KUAthletics.com/TV.

Kansas is 63-9 in exhibition games, including 31-2 under Bill Self.  Kansas leads the series against Washburn by a tally of 36-3.  The series dates back to 1906 and Kansas has won the last ten in a row dating back to Dec 8, 1944.  Dec 4, 1944 marked Washburn's last win vs Kansas, a 40-35 triumph in Topeka.

Washburn was picked to finish third in the MIAA in the preseason coaches poll.  The Ichabods are coached by Bob Chipman who is 757-314 in 35 seasons at Washburn.  Washburn returns three starters, all of whom are senior guards: Alex North, Kyle Wiggins and Korey Fisher.  North averaged 16.1 points and 10.0 rebounds last season, while Wiggins scored 15.0 points per contest and Fisher 7.0 ppg.  Overall, Washburn has seven returning letterwinners and 10 newcomers for 2014-15.
