The Jayhawks continue the 2014-15 exhibition season tonight with a matchup against the Hornets of Emporia State. This will be the exhibition opener for both teams. The game will be televised on Jayhawk IMG TV and can also be seen via the internet by fans outside of Kansas by visiting KUAthletics.com/ESPN (blackout conditions may apply, of course). For more information on accessing Kansas video content, visit KUAthletics.com/TV.
Kansas is now 64-9 in exhibition games after defeating Washburn last week, including 32-2 under Bill Self. Kansas leads the series against ESU by a tally of 19-3. The series dates back to 1904 and Kansas has won the last 19 in a row versus the Hornets. ESU's only three wins of the series came in the first three games of the series, in 1904, 1916, and 1947.
This ESU's exhibition opener. The Hornets were picked to finish eighth in the 14-team MIAA in the preseason coaches poll. The Hornets return nine letterwinners, including two starters, from last season's team. Junior guards Terrence Moore and Micah Swank are the two returning starters. Moore averaged 17.6 points and 4.0 rebounds per game last season, while Swank scored 6.3 points per contest.
Once again, the goal for Kansas should be to get lots of minutes for everyone, and get through the game healthy.
Rock Chalk!
