It was close, but the Big 12 coaches picked Kansas to repeat yet again. Kansas came away with 6 of the 9 possible first place votes, and 78 total points (teams got 9 points for a first place vote, 8 for second, etc). Texas had 3 first place votes and was just four total points behind. Oklahoma got the final first place vote.
Coaches couldn't vote for their own teams, so doing the math the three coaches that didn't pick KU to win the league picked them to finish second. We at RCT will be sure to hunt them down and yell at them.
Texas returns the most from last year's team, with nearly 100% of their minutes returning, as well as the addition of recruit Myles Turner.
The most out there choice, to me, was Iowa State picked 5th. RCT will run our own preseason poll, and I will have my own individual power ranking, but suffice it to say Iowa State will be no worse than 4th.
The full poll:
1. Kansas - 78 pts (6 first place)
2. Texas - 74 (3)
3. Oklahoma - 67 (1)
4. Kansas State - 53
5. Iowa State - 51
6. Baylor - 36
6. West Virginia - 36
8. Oklahoma State - 27
9. TCU - 15
10. Texas Tech - 13
