Ok, let’s do this in order of "This should be a great game" to "let’s watch this for the comedy that will surely ensue." Here are four games that should get your attention this weekend for one reason or another.
#3 Auburn at #4 Mississippi
As we get closer to the final weeks of the season, we get yet another legitimately important game in the SEC West. Both teams sit at one loss with a potential second loss knocking them out of serious contention for anything significant this season, so the stakes couldn’t really be any higher. From a national perspective, this game will lead all of the pregame shows and will be highlighted as the most important. It’s hard to argue. ESPN has this game at 6:00 CT.
#7 TCU at #20 West Virginia
This is the massive week ten Big 12 matchup that no one was expecting. Both of these teams have already played Oklahoma and Baylor, meaning that the winner of this game could potentially battle it out with K-State for the conference title. The atmosphere in Morgantown should be out of this world, and we could be in line for a high scoring, back and forth all time classic. If both offensive units play to their potential, both teams could score in the 50’s or 60’s. Who doesn’t want to see that? It’s on at 2:30 CT on ABC.
Oklahoma State at #9 Kansas State
At one point in the season, this looked like an intriguing matchup. It no longer looks like that. Bill Snyder has K-State rolling while Okie State looks to be in a bit of a tailspin. And let’s face it, teams rarely come to Manhattan and end skids, or get back into form, or win for that matter. Kansas State wins this game going away, putting more pressure on their upper echelon Big 12 rivals to keep pace. It’s on at 7:00 on ABC.
Florida vs. #11 Georgia
Let’s just take this once proud rivalry game and look at it from a "what did you do against Missouri" perspective. Florida got pounded by the Tigers 42-13 at home while Georgia went to Columbia and demolished Mizzou 34-0. Knowing nothing more about those teams than those scores, I’m going to go ahead and predict a 76-13 Georgia victory. Welcome to the small fraternity of basketball schools Florida! Watch it at 2:30 CT on CBS.
