Kansas Moves Up to No. 15 in Latest AP Poll

Jamie Squire

After a non-conference stretch that challenged the Jayhawks and sent them from a no. 2 ranking all the way down to no. 18, Kansas is starting to recover.   Early on the voters saw the potential in Kansas and probably gave them a little too much credit, as did everyone else, for beating a Duke team that in all reality has a lot of holes.  After a rough stretch that included four tough losses away from Allen Fieldhouse, the ship seems appears to be moving in the right direction.

With a solid road win against a now ranked Oklahoma team and an impressive home court dismantling of a ranked Kansas State team, the Jayhawks have moved up to no. 15 and have a chance tonight to take on a top 10 opponent on the road in Iowa State.  The opening stretch of league play isn't likely to end without a few lumps, but at the very least this Jayhawk team appears to be pulling together just a little bit more since the start of January.  One step at a time, tonight will tell us a lot more.
