Kansas vs. Rice: Owls Move to a 6.5 Point Favorite

Thomas Campbell-USA TODAY Sports

After a less than inspiring performance in week one the Kansas Jayhawks opened as two point underdogs to Rice heading into week two.  Since that time the line has moved and it's moved because people are betting against the Jayhawks.  The line that opened at 2 has now moved to 6.5 with Rice still being the favorite.  Unfortunately the Kansas Jayhawks have been so bad in recent years that any sign of a struggle means a heavy dose of doubting.

Kansas will go on the road this week to play against a Rice Owl team that lost their opening contest to Texas A&M.  The Owls will head into the game having already faced a very challenging BCS level opponent and won't be intimidated in the least by Kansas.

The good news for the Jayhawks is that the gameplan this past Saturday was about as vanilla as it gets.  Kansas will likely loosen things up a bit and hopefully follow the same path they did last year with steady improvement throughout the year...for the most part.  Charlie Weis and the Jayhawks have a lot to prove.  Rice will be confident and ready on Saturday, can Kansas deliver a punch away from Memorial Stadium or will this be the beginning another year without a victory on the road?
