The Sacramento Kings drafted Ben McLemore 7th overall in the 2013 Draft

USA TODAY Sports

Ben McLemore has come a long way from being academically ineligible during the 2011-12 season. He broke the Kansas Freshman record for scoring, and now he is the 7th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.

This is the second straight year Sacramento took a Kansas player in the first round as they took Thomas Robinson in last year's draft. Sacramento obviously has some uncertainty surrounding the team with the Maloofs selling the team and them narrowly avoiding a relocation to Seattle.

I'm not sure if this is the best situation for McLemore on the court, as I question who will be the mentor who will take him under his wing and show him the ropes, which he probably needs. There also isn't exactly a lot of good character guys in that locker room, especially DeMarcus Cousins, but he should be starting immediately and if he puts in the work it will be a place where his talents can shine.

This is the fourth straight year that a Kansas player has been taken in the lottery.
