Kansas Basketball

Kansas-Carolina more than coaches |
“I don’t know if there’s any importance at all about the coaches, at least from my perspective. I think if coach (Roy) Williams and I were to go out there and play 1-on-1, I think I could back him down on the post pretty good,” said KU coach Self, a 50-year-old former starting point guard at Oklahoma State. Williams, 62, was a point guard on the JV team at North Carolina.

Opinion: Jeff Withey capable scorer, also |
Withey did, making seven of nine from the field on the way to a game-high 17 points in the 64-57 victory. Western Kentucky didn’t have the size to keep him from scoring down low.

KU needs Withey to show mean side on court -
Self likes mean. Or, at least, he likes guys who play mean. Calls them assassins. Actually, if the cameras aren’t around he uses a different word with the same first three letters, and he has built much of his success at Kansas on them. Thomas Robinson. Tyshawn Taylor. Brandon Rush. Sherron Collins. The Morris twins.
